This week the story that sticks out to me was the love of a person from Luv-em-up (LEU) Monday night. I came into the sanctuary and he saw me. He walked all the way from where he was to the other side of the pew, reached over someone, and told me he was going to camp. He was just excited to see me and tell me he was going to camp this weekend. I am amazed that when I or others walk in to the sanctuary or to a place where those from LEU are, they stop what they are doing to say hi to you. They are so intentional to say hi and welcome me. Those of you that know LEU know what I am talking about.
We are having a camp for LEU in Julian CA at Camp Wynola this weekend over Halloween. Friday Oct 30th to Sunday Nov 1st. There will be about 60 campers with disabilities and about 30 volunteers plus those from Wynola, so please pray that we stay calm and consistent because it is pretty strenuous. Consistent love is really powerful for them. Most of the volunteers have never been to a camp with LEU and it is a completely different experience then anything else. You have bathroom runs all the time and through the night. Some need help to dress themselves. They are also all out of their element and almost every routine they know. It is a really great experience even though it is very difficult. :)
On a different note I have been mentioning the youth group I have been helping out in my home town in San Diego. Tonight I had such a great time and God really helped me to go all out for the kids; being funny, dancing around, and just having a good time with them. I was really feeling a lukewarm heart and so I prayed about it before I got to youth group and He really helped me. We had this activity called Disco Pumkin Carving. It was crazy. There was music. I love to dance but I don't in front of people because I am always worried what others are thinking about me and if they might reject me. So tonight I just went all out and it was great. I felt free and I guess I just realized that He gave me a glimpse of freedom that God gives in obedience. In this case it is putting the kids in front of me.
Thanks for reading and for your faithfulness in my life. Till next week.
